  Red River Hanover, a North America Cup winner and the sire of Group winners in four different countries, will this season stand at Warwick Stud, Shepparton, alongside the triple Inter Dominion winner Our Sir Vancelot.

  Red River Hanover had previously stood as a shuttle sire at Nevele R Stud, Christchurch where his oldest stock are four-year-olds and with his second biggest crop (121 rising 2YO’s) still to represent him.

  Red River Hanover, who was first at stud at the prestigious Perretti Farms in New Jersey, has left 162 winners of more than $4.4 million – an excellent score from just three racing crops.

  He has 86 in 2:00, 34 in 1:55, two in 1:50 and nine $100,000 winners.

  In New Zealand and Australia, he has progeny earnings of $1.4million to July 1. They include the outstanding four-year-olds Mister Zion 1:56.8, winner of this year’s South Australian Cup and Mildura Cup, Garnet River 1:55.3, who won the Tasmanian Derby and Victoria Youthful Stakes and Runaway Red 1:55.4, a placegetter in the Australian Pacing Gold, NSW Breeders Challenge and Bathurst Gold Crown.

  Hollywood Bromac 1:57.5, a winner of 12 of his 21 Victorian starts, Firm Believer 1:56.4, Premium Red 1:56.8, Mon Hanover 1:57.8, Wonderful Tonight 1:59.1, Hear No Secret and the Tontine Trot Final winner Zanzi Bromac have been other Australasian winners by Red River Hanover from his first crops.

  Red River Hanover was a top racehorse in his own right. As a two-year-old he won in 1:52.4, winning a heat of the Metro Pace at Woodbine, while he also captured the $112,000 Nassagaweya Stake and the $86,000 Champion Stakes.

  He took his record of 1:48.8 at three years, winning the $945,000 North America Cup, in which he defeated Mach Three and McArdle in race record time. Among his other successes were the $315,000 Prix d’Montreal, Meadowlands Pace Consolation, a division of the Burlington Pace and an elimination of the American-National.

  From 39 starts Red River Hanover compiled the excellent record of 15 wins and four placings for $965,426 in stakes.

  A $300,000 yearling – testimony to his film star looks and breeding background -- Red River Hanover is a son of the great Western Hanover 1:50.8, the world’s highest stakes-winning sire and a leading sire of sires. Western Hanover has sired the winners of $150 million in stakes and to this stage is credited with more than 45 in the 1:50 list.

  Red River Hanover, on his dam’s side has a pedigree to match that of his sire line.

  His dam, Rich N Elegant, has been one of the gems of the American Stud Book. She is the dam of eight individual winners, three of whom took records of better than 1:50, including Rocknroll Hanover p3, 1:48.6 ($2.7m), Royalflush Hanover 1:49.6 ($2.1m) and Red River Hanover p3, 1:48.8.

  One of Rich N Elegant’s sons, Rocknroll Hanover – a three-quarter brother to Red River Hanover -- was the leading sire of two-year-olds in North America last year with his first crop and is the leading three-year-old sire this year.

  In all, Rich N Elegant’s offspring have earned a staggering $7.5 million in stakes between them.

  Rich N Elegant 3, 1:56.8 was by Direct Scooter (1:54 great grandson of Volomite) from Proven Perfect, by Abercrombie 1:53 from Shifting Sands, by Shadow Wave 1:56.6 from Golden Miss, who founded one of the greatest families of sires in the world today. This is the family of Grinfromeartoear, Safely Kept, Panorama – all leading sires in Australia –Riyadh, Strike Out and so on.

RACING PERFORMANCE 

At two, Red River Hanover won 6 races, incl. the $112,800 Nassagaweya Stk, $86,415 Champlain Stk & $49,000 elim of Metro Stk, setting a track record of 1:52.4 at Woodbine.
At three, Red River Hanover won 9 races & over $Can1 million. His major victory was the $Can1.5 million North American Cup, when he beat Mach Three & McArdle & paced a Canadian Age-Group record of 1:48.8. His time was just 1/5th of a second outside the All-Age mark. At the Hippodrome De Montreal, he paced a track record 1:50.8 to win the $315,914 Prix d’Montreal by 4 lengths. Red River Hanover also won the $63,000 Burlington Stakes by five lengths in 1:50.8, Meadowlands Pace Consolation, elimination of American National Stk & PA Sires Stk. He finished 3rd in an elimination of the Breeders Crown.
